Authorities arrested a Humboldt County man for his actions following a murder in Fort Dodge in April,2024. Court documents state that 23-year-old Aidan D. Pate of Thor has been charged with abuse of a corpse and accessory after the fact. Pate’s offenses were committed on April 25,2024 at 1440 Second Avenue South and along 280th Street in rural Webster County. On the night of April 25th,2024, 55-year-old Dennis Jones was shot to death at his home in Fort Dodge with his body dumped in a roadside ditch along 280th Street. Police and prosecutors say Dennis Jones was shot three times by his son 26-year-old Alec Jones. Alec Jones was convicted of first-degree murder last year and is now serving life in prison. His brother 22-year-old Nathan Jones,pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit murder, abuse of a corpse and accessory after the fact. During the trial of Alec Jones , Pate was identified as a friend of the two brothers. He was also identified as the driver of the vehicle that was spotted at the Jones house the night of the murder. Webster County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested Pate on Tuesday at Vincent Avenue and 140th Street. On Wednesday morning, Pate made his initial appearance in Webster County Magistrate Court. Pate waived his right to a preliminary hearing. The case against him will proceed to arraignment and trial. Pate was released from jail and placed under the supervision of the Iowa Department of Corrections Service.
