South Hamilton baseball falls short at PCM, 5-2

The South Hamilton Hawks baseball team returned to action on Wednesday, as they made the trip to Jasper County to take on the PCM Mustangs in Heart of Iowa Conference action at PCM Elementary School in Prairie City. South Hamilton entered at 0-3, while PCM entered at 1-4.

Following a scoreless first, South Hamilton got on the board first off a Carson Gibbs RBI fielder’s choice to put the Hawks ahead 1-0. PCM would tie it in the bottom half, as South Hamilton reclaimed the lead off a Brayden Moore RBI single to put the Hawks up 2-1 in the 3rd. PCM would then tie the game in the bottom of the 3rd at 2-2, as PCM would then put up 3 runs in the bottom of the 4th, which would be the deciding factor in a 5-2 win.

Brayden Moore would go 2-for-3 with an RBI, as fellow senior Braden Young also went 2-for-3. Senior Landon Sogard was charged with the loss, allowing 5 runs (1 earned) off 8 hits and striking out 7.
