
The Roland-Story Norsemen softball team returned to action on Wednesday, as they hosted the West Marshall Trojans in Heart of Iowa Conference action at West Marshall High School in State Center. Roland-Story entered at 3-1, while West Marshall entered at 4-3 and ranked #14 in Class 3A.
Defense and pitching ruled the diamond throughout the game on Wednesday, as the first run of the game would not come across until Miley Geise drove in Lilli Rechkemmer to put the Norsemen up 1-0. That lead lasted into the 7th, with West Marshall down to their final strike, Jillian Karsjen drove in 2 runs on an RBI double to give West Marshall the lead and the eventual victory.
Miley Geise would drive in the lone Norsemen run in a 1-for-3 performance at the plate, but picking up the loss in the circle by pitching all 7 innings, allowing 2 runs on 5 hits and striking out 5.
Roland-Story softball returns to action on Thursday, when they host South Hamilton in Heart of Iowa Conference action at the Hennessy Diamonds in Roland at 7:30 PM.
