The Roland-Story Norsemen baseball team returned to action on Wednesday, as they made the trip to State Center to take on the West Marshall Trojans in Heart of Iowa Conference doubleheader action at Schilling Field. Roland-Story entered at 7-2, while West Marshall entered at 4-5.
West Marshall would have the upper hand from the get out on Wednesday, as they took a 2-0 lead after the first. Roland-Story answered with a run in the 3rd off a balk to bring the score to 2-1, but West Marshall would put up 2 runs in the 3rd and 2 more runs in the 6th to cap a 6-1 victory.
Braden Wallace had the top game at the plate for the Norsemen, going 2-for-3, while William Zamzow, Cooper Triggs and Sam Knoll all recorded hits. Colin Willis was charged with the loss, allowing 6 runs (4 earned) on 6 hits and striking out 6 in 5.1 innings.
Roland-Story would be the ones to start off quick in Game 2, as Aiden Frey drew a bases-loaded walk to put the Norsemen up 1-0. However, that was all the offense the Norsemen could muster as West Marshall would put up a run in the 2nd, 2 runs in the 4th and a run in the 6th to cap a 4-1 win.
Colin Willis would go 2-for-3 with a double, while Jake Knoll went 1-for-2 with a single and a walk. Braden Wallace was charged with the loss, allowing 4 runs (2 earned) on 5 hits and striking out 6.
