The Eagle Grove Eagles softball team returned to action on Wednesday night, as they hosted the Lake Mills Bulldogs in Top of Iowa West action at Greenwood Park in Eagle Grove. Eagle Grove entered at 3-2, while Lake Mills entered at 1-3.
Eagle Grove would use a fast 1st inning to their advantage on Wednesday, as Lily Locke gave the Eagles a lead on an RBI single, before Mya Morgan helped her own cause by belting her 2nd home run of the year, a 3-run blast that put Eagle Grove up 4-0. Scoring would then cease until the 4th, as Chloe Schultz would collect an RBI double, and Brenna Grandgeorge had an RBI single to put the Eagles up 6-0. The Eagles would then score a run off an Ellie Lenning RBI single, before Addy Jeske ended the game early on an RBI groundout to enforce the 8-run rule as Eagle Grove capped an 8-0 victory.
Ellie Lenning and Lily Locke would each go 2-for-3 with 2 RBI, while Mya Morgan went 1-for-3 with her 3-run homer, while also allowing no runs on 5 hits and striking out 6.
Eagle Grove softball returns to action on Thursday, when they travel to Manson-Northwest Webster to take on the Cougars in non-conference action at the Keith Hart Athletic Complex, beginning at 7 PM.
