Webster City softball falls at Humboldt in 6 innings, 13-5

The Webster City Lynx softball team returned to action on Monday, as they made the trip into Humboldt County to take on their conference rivals in the Humboldt Wildcats in North Central Conference action. Webster City entered at 1-1, while Humboldt entered at 0-2.

Webster City got off to a fast start with 3 runs in the top of the first, as Humboldt answered with a run in the bottom half to make it 3-1. Humboldt’s offense would then come to life with a 5-run 2nd and a 5-run 4th, as Webster City sandwiched a 2-run 3rd in the medium as the Wildcats led 11-5. Humboldt would then add 2 more runs in the 6th to end things early in a 13-5 win.

Hailey Brim would go 2-for-2 with a pair of singles and an RBI, while freshman Morgan Tempel went 2-for-3 with a triple and an RBI. Jakaela Cherry was charged with the loss, allowing 13 runs (10 earned) on 11 hits and striking out 6.

Webster City softball returns to action on Tuesday, when they travel to Storm Lake to take on the Tornadoes in non-conference action at 6:45 PM.
