
The Roland-Story Norsemen baseball team returned to action on Monday, when they made the trip west to Jefferson to take on the Greene County Rams in Heart of Iowa Conference action at Allensworth Field. Roland-Story entered at 6-2, while Greene County entered at 1-2.
Roland-Story would use a gradual climb to build their lead on the Rams, as Gavin Jeter drew an RBI HBP in the 1st to give a 1-0 lead. Colin Willis drew a bases-loaded walk in the 2nd to make it 2-0, as Cael Faber laid down a sac bunt that scored Aiden Frey to make it 3-0. Jeter would drive in another run on an RBI ground out in the 4th to make it 4-0, before Cael Faber drove in another run on an RBI fielder’s choice to make it 5-0. The Norsemen then put up 5 runs in the 6th off 2 bases-loaded walks, 2 sac flies by Sam Knoll and Jake Knoll and a wild pitch to take a 10-0 lead and a 10-0 final.
Gavin Jeter and Cael Faber would each drive in 2 runs without recording a hit, as Roland-Story tallied just 6 hits as a team. Faber would toss a gem in the win, going 6 innings and allowing 0 runs on 1 hit and striking out 9.
Roland-Story baseball returns to action on Wednesday, when they travel to State Center for a pivotal Heart of Iowa Conference doubleheader with West Marshall beginning at 5:15 PM.
