Webster City softball shuts out Clarion-Goldfield-Dows in 5, 9-0

The Webster City Lynx and Clarion-Goldfield-Dows Cowgirls softball teams returned to action on Friday, as the two faced off with one another in North Central Conference action at CGD High School in Clarion. Webster City entered at 0-1, while CGD entered at 0-2.

Webster City would use a slow, yet-steady climb against the Cowgirls, putting up 2 runs in the 1st, followed by 3 runs in the 2nd and a run in the 3rd to lead 6-0. After a scoreless 4th, Webster City put up 3 runs in the 5th to take a 9-0 lead, and would keep the Cowgirls off the scoreboard in the 5th to cap a 9-0, 5-inning victory.

Junior Morgan Hackbarth would go 2-for-3 with 2 singles and 2 RBI, while freshman Jaylyn Bahrenfuss went 2-for-3 with a triple and 2 RBI. Jakaela Cherry picked up the win in the circle, pitching a 1-hit shutout with 12 strikeouts. Clarion-Goldfield-Dows stats were not available as of Monday morning.

Webster City softball returns to action on Monday, when they travel to Humboldt to take on the Wildcats in North Central Conference action at 7:30 PM. Clarion-Goldfield-Dows softball returns to action on Monday, when they travel to Clear Lake to take on the Lions in North Central Conference action at 7:30 PM.
