
The Eagle Grove Eagles softball team returned to action on Friday, as they hosted the Belmond-Klemme Broncos in Top of Iowa West action at Greenwood Park in Eagle Grove. Eagle Grove entered at 2-1, while Belmond-Klemme entered at 2-0.
Both sides would trade a run in the 1st, before Belmond-Klemme would add a run in the 2nd to take a 2-1 lead. The Broncos would then add 2 runs in the 3rd and 3 runs in the top of the 4th to take a 7-1 lead. Eagle Grove responded with a pair of runs in the 4th to cut the deficit to 7-3, but Belmond-Klemme added 2 runs in the 6th and a run in the 7th to capture a 10-3 win.
Sophomore pitcher Mya Morgan would be charged with the loss, pitching 5.2 innings and allowing 9 runs (5 earned) on 7 hits and struck out 3, while also going 1-for-3 with a 2-run home run. Lily Locke had an RBI as well, while Myah Edwards went 1-for-2 with a triple. Belmond-Klemme junior Kaylen Morris had an outstanding day, going 3-for-5 with a home run and 6 RBI, while also picking up the win in the circle.
Eagle Grove softball returns to action on Monday, when they travel to Algona to take on Bishop Garrigan in Top of Iowa West action at 6 PM.
