Roland-Story softball holds off South Hardin on the road, 6-2

The Roland-Story Norsemen softball team returned to action on Thursday night, as they made the trip into Hardin County to take on the South Hardin Tigers in non-conference action at South Hardin High School in Eldora. The Norsemen entered Thursday at 0-1, as the Tigers also entered at 0-1.

Roland-Story would strike right away as Lilli Rechkemmer score on an error in the top of the 1st to put the Norsemen up 1-0. Roland-Story added on to their lead with a Miley Geise 2-run RBI single in the 4th to take a 3-0 lead, before Peyton Jeter added another run on an RBI double in the 5th to put the Norsemen up 4-0. More insurance runs came across in the 7th off a Peyton Jeter 2-run RBI double to put Roland-Story up 6-0, as South Hardin scored a pair of runs in the 7th, but could not make a comeback as Roland-Story claimed a 6-2 win.

Senior Peyton Jeter had the top day at the plate, going 3-for-4 with a double and 3 RBI, while Miley Geise went 1-for-3 with 2 RBI. Geise was the winning pitcher, allowing 2 runs (0 earned) on 7 hits and striking out 9.

Roland-Story softball returns to action on Friday, when they travel to Jewell to take on rivals South Hamilton in Heart of Iowa Conference action in Jewell at 7:30 PM on 95.7 KQWC.
