
The Roland-Story Norsemen baseball team returned to action on Thursday, as they made the trip into Hardin County to take on the South Hardin Tigers in non-conference action at South Hardin High School in Eldora. Roland-Story entered at 4-1, while South Hardin entered at 1-1.
A scoreless first inning would be followed up by a Norsemen run in the 2nd off a Sam Knoll RBI single to give Roland-Story a 1-0 lead, but South Hardin responded with a Bo Carpenter RBI single to tie the game at 1-1 after 2. Roland-Story would add a run in the 3rd off an RBI fielder’s choice by Colin Willis, before adding another run in the 4th off a wild pitch to lead 3-1. The 5th inning would be a prosperous one for the Norsemen, as an Aiden Frey RBI single and a bases-clearing double by Cael Faber blew the game open as Roland-Story led 7-1. The Norsemen scored 3 more runs in the 6th off a Cooper Triggs RBI single and a 2-run RBI single by Sam Knoll as Roland-Story cruised to a 10-1 win.
Sam Knoll would go 2-for-3 with 2 singles and 3 RBI, while Cael Faber went 2-for-4 with a double and 3 RBI. Colin Willis was the winning pitcher, going 6 innings and allowing 1 run on 7 hits and striking out 9.
Roland-Story baseball returns to action on Friday, when they travel to Jewell to take on South Hamilton in Heart of Iowa Conference action with first pitch at 7:30 PM.
