South Hamilton softball falls to Grand View Christian at home, 10-4

The South Hamilton Hawks softball team returned to action on Wednesday, as they hosted the Thunder of Grand View Christian in Heart of Iowa Conference action at the Mike Penning Athletic Complex in Jewell. South Hamilton entered at 0-1, while Grand View Christian entered at 1-0.

Following a scoreless 1st, South Hamilton put 2 runs on the board off an RBI double by Sydnee Flaugh to put the Hawks ahead 2-0. GVC immediately answered in the 3rd with a 2-run home run by Grace Kruse, followed by 2 runs scoring on an error, and an RBI single to put the Thunder ahead 5-2. South Hamilton answered with an 2-run RBI single in the 4th from Jillian Hesse to cut the score to 5-4, but Grand View Christian would put up 5 runs in the 5th to take a 10-4 lead and cruise to a 10-4 victory.

Jillian Hesse would be charged with the loss, pitching 3 innings and allowing 5 runs (2 earned) on 6 hits, but did go 2-for-4 with an RBI single. Sydnee Flaugh went 1-for-3 with a 2-run RBI double, while Emma Lammers pitched in relief, going 4 innings and allowing 5 runs (0 earned) on 3 hits and struck out 1.

South Hamilton softball returns to action on Friday, when they host Roland-Story in Heart of Iowa Conference action beginning at 7:30 PM.
