South Hamilton boys golf places 12th in 1A State Tournament

The South Hamilton Hawks boys golf team was in action on Tuesday and Wednesday, as they competed in the Class 1A State Tournament at South Hills Golf Course in Waterloo. The Hawks were joined by Akron-Westfield, Boyden-Hull, CAM, Easton Valley, Hillcrest Academy, North Linn, Sigourney, South Winneshiek, Woodbine and Woodbury Central.

South Hamilton would place 12th as a team with a score of +132, as the Hawks top placer was junior Luke Martensen, who placed 39th and shot +29 for the tournament. Senior Landon Sogard tied for 40th and shot +30, junior Sam Koehnk tied for 53rd and shot +37, as junior Brody Harris rounded out scoring by placing 55th and shooting +38.

Boyden-Hull would capture the Class 1A team title, shooting a +42 in the tournament, while Hamburg’s Keith Thompson claimed the individual state title, shooting +1 for the tournament.
