Roland-Story baseball downs Southeast Valley, 10-4

The Roland-Story Norsemen baseball team returned to action on Wednesday night, as the Norsemen hosted the Southeast Valley Jaguars in non-conference action at Norsemen Field in Story City. Roland-Story entered at 3-1, while Southeast Valley was in their season-opener.

Roland-Story started things off with a prosperous 1st inning, putting up 4 runs thanks to 3 Southeast Valley errors in the frame to take a 4-0 lead. Following a scoreless 2nd, the Jaguars put up 3 runs in the 3rd to bring the margin with 1 at 4-3. Roland-Story would finally answer in the bottom of the 5th, as Derek Acevedo scored on a wild pitch, Aiden Frey scored on an error, while Cael Faber brought in Cooper Triggs on an RBI single to put the Norsemen up 7-3. The Norsemen struck again in the 6th, as Aiden Frey launched a 2-run home run to center field to make the score 9-3, before Sam Knoll scored Cooper Triggs on an RBI groundout to put the Norsemen up 10-3. Southeast Valley would score 1 in the 7th, but Cael Faber locked down a 10-4 win.

Faber would pitch the complete game, allowing 4 runs (1 earned) on 8 hits and striking out 11, while also going 2-for-3 with an RBI single and a double. Aiden Frey would go 1-for-2 with a 2-run home run, while Sam Knoll went 1-for-3 with an RBI and a single.

Roland-Story baseball returns to action on Thursday, when they travel to Eldora to take on South Hardin at 7 PM.
