Webster City softball drops season-opener to top-ranked North Polk, 10-0

The Webster City Lynx softball team opened their 2025 season on Tuesday, as they hosted the North Polk Comets in non-conference action at Webster City High School. Both teams were in their season-opener, as North Polk entered as the preseason #1 team in Class 4A.

North Polk would scratch across a run in the top of the 1st to make it 1-0, but the next inning and a half would be quiet. However, the Comets bats came alive in the 3rd, as they put up 6 runs in the frame. North Polk would then put up 3 more runs in the 4th to come away with a 10-0, 4 inning victory.

Senior Cloe Savitski would register the only Lynx hit of the night with a double, while junior Jakaela Cherry pitched all 4 innings, allowing 10 runs (7 earned) on 9 hits and did not record a strikeout.

Webster City softball returns to action on Friday, when the Lynx travel to Clarion to take on Clarion-Goldfield-Dows in North Central Conference action at 7 PM.
