
The Eagle Grove Eagles and Clarion-Goldfield-Dows Cowgirls softball teams returned to action on Tuesday, as they faced one another at Greenwood Park in Eagle Grove in non-conference action. Eagle Grove entered at 0-1, while CGD was in their season opener.
After a scoreless first inning, Eagle Grove would plate 2 runs in the 2nd off an Ellie Lenning 2-run RBI single to give the Eagles a 2-0 lead. Eagle Grove would add 3 runs in the 3rd to extend the lead to 5-0, before a 5-run 4th inning saw the Eagles walk things off with a passed ball to score the 10th run in a 10-0 shutout in 4 innings.
Ellie Lenning led the Eagles with 2 RBI on the night with a 1-for-2 performance, while Holly Anderson and Lily Locke each tallied RBI as well. Sophomore Mya Morgan would pitch 4 innings, allowing 0 runs on 2 hits and striking out 7. CGD junior Kayla Hasty would record the Cowgirls only 2 hits, going 2-for-2 with 2 singles on Tuesday.
Eagle Grove softball returns to action on Wednesday, when they travel to Britt to take on West Hancock at 6 PM. Clarion-Goldfield-Dows returns to action on Thursday, when they travel to Osage to take on the Green Devils at 6 PM.
