
The Webster City Lynx boys soccer team returned to action on Tuesday, as they hosted the Decorah Vikings in their Class 2A, Substate 2 Semifinal at Lynx Field in Webster City. Webster City entered at a perfect 14-0, while Decorah entered at 6-7-4.
After over a week off, the Lynx took some time to get re-acclimated on Tuesday, as Webster City struck first with a goal in the 11th minute from Eddy Fuentes-Cruz off an Israel Torres assist to put the Lynx up 1-0. Fuentes-Cruz would strike again in the 22nd minute off a David Villelas assist to put Webster City up 2-0 at halftime.
Decorah would get a goal in the 2nd half to bring the score to 2-1, but Eddy Fuentes-Cruz would capture another hat trick, scoring in the 79th minute off a Wilmer Padilla Chavez assist to put the Lynx up 3-1, as Webster City held serve for a 3-1 win.
Webster City boys soccer returns to action on Thursday, when they host Aplington-Parkersburg for the Class 2A, Substate 2 Final at Lynx Field, with kickoff at 7 PM.
