Former Webster City and Hall of Fame football coach Bob Howard will make his return to the sideline this fall as Howard was hired as an assistant varsity football coach at Tuesday morning’s (5/27) school board meeting.
Howard, who stepped down as head coach of the Lynx following the 2023 season, held an unofficial role with the program during the 2024 season during Webster City’s 3-6 campaign. Howard was the head coach of Webster City from 2007 to 2023 and led the Lynx to a 124-56 record in his 17 seasons, with 14 playoff appearance, 4 district titles and a state runner-up finish in 2016.
Prior to coaching at Webster City, Howard put together a hall of fame resume at Sigourney-Keota, coaching from 1980 to 2006 and amassed a record of 229-52 with 3 state championships in his 26 seasons. Howard also led the former Scranton High School in Greene County from 1977 to 1979 with a 19-5 record.
