The Roland-Story Norsemen baseball team opened their 2025 season on Wednesday, as they made the trip to Des Moines to take on the Scarlets of Des Moines East at Historic Williams Field on Des Moines’s east side.
Game 1 saw the Scarlets jump ahead in the 1st with a run to lead 1-0, as the Norsemen and Scarlets traded a run in the 2nd, with Des Moines East leading 2-1 after 2. East would then tally 2 more runs in the 4th to lead 4-1, as the Norsemen attempted to mount a rally in the 7th, but came up short as East secured a 4-2 win.
Sophomore Gavin Jeter tallied the lone RBI, going 1-for-2 with a single and an RBI, while Colin Willis went 2-for-3 with 2 singles. Cael Faber was the losing pitcher of record, going 5 innings and allowing 4 runs (3 earned) on 5 hits and striking out 8.

The Scarlets would put up 5 runs in the bottom of the 5th, but not enough to continue the game as the Norsemen won 17-5 in 5 innings.
