
Webster City will join the nation this Monday morning for Memorial Day services. Webster City American Legion Post 191 announced the day will begin May 26th with the members of the Firing Squad meeting at the Legion Hall at 7:30 a.m. The Legion members and Auxiliary will assemble at the Legion Hall t 8:00 a.m. for transportation to the services. Transportation will be provided . The first service of the day will be at 8:30 at the Marshall Crippen bridge on North Des Moines Street for servicemen and women lost at sea. The American Legion Auxiliary of Webster City will lead the service. The service at Cass Center Cemetery northeast of Webster City will be conducted by the Webster City American Legion at 9:00 a.m. The Memorial Day parade will form in the 700 block of Second Street in the north alley at 10:00 a.m. At 10:30, the parade will proceed south on Des Moines Street to the Boulevard of Valor located between the Webster City middle school and St. Thomas Aquinas Church for the presentation of roses at the markers. There will be recognition of active-duty military personnel by the Auxiliary. The parade will continue to the entrance of Graceland Cemetery and the Memorial stage. Monday’s parade will include veterans and patriotic groups including the Webster City chapter of Scouting America, formerly known the Boy Scouts. The service at Graceland Cemtery will be conducted by Commander Dave Gordon. In the event of inclement weather, the service will be canceled. The public is welcome to any of the services this Monday for Memorial Day.
