
The South Hamilton Hawks boys golf team returned to action on Monday, as they competed in their Class 1A District Tournament at Highland Park Golf Course in Mason City. The Hawks were joined by Baxter, BCLUW, Belle Plaine, Central Elkader, Dunkerton, Gladbrook-Reinbeck, Nashua-Plainfield, Newman Catholic, North Butler, Northwood-Kensett, Saint Ansgar, South Winneshiek, Starmont, Tripoli, Turkey Valley, Wapsie Valley, West Fork and West Hancock.
South Hamilton would place 2nd on the day and shoot a 335 (+47), qualifying for the Class 1A State Tournament for the 2nd year in a row. The Hawks top placer was junior Brody Harris, who finished 3rd individually and shot an 80 (+8). Senior Connor Deppe tied for 6th and shot an 82 (+10), fellow senior Landon Sogard tied for 9th and shot an 83 (+11), as juniors Sam Koehnk and Luke Martensen each shot 90’s (+18) and tied for 32nd.
The Hawks join district champions South Winneshiek and 3rd-place finisher West Fork at next week’s Class 1A State Tournament, held at South Hills Golf Course in Waterloo on Tuesday, May 27th and Wednesday, May 28th.
