
The Roland-Story Norsemen boys golf team returned to action on Monday, as they competed in their Class 2A District Golf Tournament at South Hills Golf Course in Waterloo. The Norsemen were joined by Columbus Catholic, Denver, Dike-New Hartford, East Marshall, Grundy Center, Hudson, Maquoketa Valley, MFL MarMac, New Hampton, Oelwein, Union Community, Waukon and West Marshall.
Roland-Story would place 5th in the district meet with a 340 (+52), as Columbus Catholic would be district champions with a 319 (+31). The Norsemen’s top scorer was sophomore Jake Knoll, who tied for 17th and shot an 82 (+10). Senior Braylen Loots would tie for 26th and shoot an 85 (+13), junior Hayden Eslick would tie for 29th and shoot an 86 (+14), while senior Jack Birkland rounded out scoring by tying for 34th and shooting an 87 (+15).
Columbus Catholic, Grundy Center and East Marshall would advance to next week’s Class 2A State Tournament at Gates Park Golf Course in Waterloo on Tuesday, May 27th and Wednesday, May 28th. Roland-Story’s season comes to a conclusion in the district tournament.
