Eagle Grove and Clarion-Goldfield-Dows girls golf compete in sectional tournament in Clarion

The Eagle Grove Eagles and Clarion-Goldfield-Dows Cowgirls golf teams returned to action on Friday, as they competed in their Class 2A Sectional Tournament at Clarmond Country Club in Clarion. The Eagles and Cowgirls were joined by East Sac County, Grundy Center, Iowa Falls-Alden, Manson-Northwest Webster, Pocahontas Area and Southeast Valley.

Eagle Grove would place 3rd as a team, shooting a 418 (+130) and moving on to Tuesday’s regional tournament as a complete squad. The Eagles top placer was senior Kennedy Thacker, who placed 6th and shot a 101 (+29). Freshman Azlyn Amonson shot a 102 (+30) and tied for 7th, senior Piper Willard tied for 11th and shot a 105 (+33), while junior Caitlin Christopher tied for 20th and shot a 110 (+38).

Clarion-Goldfield-Dows would place 6th as a team, shooting a 465 (+177) as a squad. The Cowgirls top placer was sophomore Blaire Askelsen, who tied for 20th and shot a 110 (+38). Junior Claire Kirstein would shoot a 114 (+42) and tie for 26th, senior Maddie Askvig would place 29th and shoot a 120 (+48), as senior Jordyce Duncalf rounded out scoring by placing 30th with a 121 (+49).

Eagle Grove girls golf advances to compete in their Class 2A Regional Tournament at Pine Lake Country Club in Eldora at 10 AM. Clarion-Goldfield-Dows girls golf sees their season come to a close.
