Jeske qualifier highlights Eagle Grove district meet at Garner

The Eagle Grove Eagles track teams returned to action on Thursday, as they competed in their Class 2A State Qualifying Meet at Garner-Hayfield-Ventura High School in Garner. The Eagles were joined by the host Cardinals, as well as Belmond-Klemme, Central Springs, Emmetsburg, Estherville-Lincoln Central, Forest City, Iowa Falls-Alden, Pocahontas Area, Sioux Central, South Hardin and Spirit Lake.

Eagle Grove’s girls would place 10th with 29 points, and posted the Eagles lone automatic qualifier as Addy Jeske placed 2nd in the long jump with a mark of 17′ 0.25″. Myka Anderson would place 4th in the 400m hurdles in a time of 1:12.33, while Taytum Edwards placed 5th in the 200m dash in a time of 27.47. Addison Eittreim placed 5th in the high jump, clearing 4′ 6″, while the 4×400 placed 6th in a time of 4:25.47.

Eagle Grove’s boys would place 10th with 18 points on the evening, as their top placer was senior Patrick Heaton, who placed 5th in the 200m dash in a time of 24.78. Leelan Spencer would place 6th in the 100m dash in a time of 12.30, while Josh Miller placed 6th in the high jump by clearing 5′ 10″. Eagle Grove’s 4×200 would place 5th in a time of 1:38.24 with the team of Spencer-Nielsen-Miller-Heaton, while the 4×800 placed 6th in a time of 9:30.01 with the team of Z. Castro-A. Castro-Gonzalez-Sisson.
