The Webster City Lynx and Clarion-Goldfield-Dows Cowgirls track teams returned to action on Thursday, as they made the trek into Hardin County to compete in the North Central Conference Championships at Iowa Falls-Alden High School in Iowa Falls. The Lynx and Cowgirls were joined by the host Cadets, as well as Algona, Clear Lake, Hampton-Dumont-CAL, Humboldt and St. Edmond.
Webster City’s girls would tie for 4th in the meet with St. Edmond, as both scored 69 points, as the Lynx had a pair of 2nd place finishers with senior Cloe Savitski placing 2nd in the 100m dash in a time of 13.23, while also placing 4th in the 200m dash in a time of 27.86. Izzy Grossoehme placed 2nd in the 400m dash in a personal-best time of 59.07, as the sprint medley placed 3rd in a time of 1:56.26 with the team of Weinschenk-Hartnett-Savitski-Grossoehme, while the 4×100 placed 3rd in a time of 53.22 with the team of Weinschenk-Grossoehme-Wright-Savitski. Jakaela Cherry would place 5th in a loaded discus field, with a personal-best throw of 111′ 2″, while Adysen Poppen placed 5th in an equally-loaded shot put field with a throw of 37′ 5.5″.
Clarion-Goldfield-Dows would place 8th with 51 points, and came away with a meet champion, as senior MaKayla Beisel won the high jump by clearing 5′ 4″. Beisel would also place 2nd in the 100m hurdles in a time of 16.40, while also placing 2nd in the 400m hurdles in a season-best time of 1:06.95. The Cowgirls 4×100 would place 4th in a time of 55.84 with the team of Schaffer-Tijull-Engstrom-Beisel, while the shuttle hurdle team placed 5th in a time of 1:22.94 with the team of Schaffer-Engstrom-Egland-Howell. The Cowgirls 4×800 would be 6th in 12:12.46 with the team of Charlson-Bobadilla-Hoesing-Perez, while the 4×200 was 6th in a time of 2:02.47 with the team of Engstrom-Tijull-Howell-Egland.

Clarion-Goldfield-Dows girls track returns to action on Thursday, when they run their Class 2A State Qualifying Meet at Grundy Center, beginning at 4:30 PM.
