Webster City and Clarion-Goldfield-Dows boys track compete in NCC Championships

The Webster City Lynx and Clarion-Goldfield-Dows Cowboys track team returned to action on Thursday night, as they made the drive into Cerro Gordo County to compete in the North Central Conference Championships at Lions Field in Clear Lake. The Lynx and Cowboys were joined by the host Lions, as well as Algona, Hampton-Dumont-CAL, Humboldt, Iowa Falls-Alden and St. Edmond.

Webster City placed 5th in the meet with 61 points, as their lone meet champion was junior Justin Callahan, who won the 400m hurdles in a season-best time of 55.73. Callahan would place 3rd in the 400m dash in a season-best time of 51.30, as Daniel Murillo-Delfin placed 4th in the 800m dash in a time of 2:08.84. Jayden Weinzetl would place 4th in the 100m dash in a time of 11.22, while also placing 4th in the 200m dash in a time of 23.12. Jack Barner would place 6th in the 3200m run in a season-best time of 11:14.36, while also placing 6th in the 1600m run in a season-best time of 4:57.01.

Clarion-Goldfield-Dows would place 8th in the meet with 25 points, as their top event was the shuttle hurdle, which placed 5th in a time of 1:10.46 with the team of Lane-Rivera-Duncalf-Holmes. Chaz Lane would place 6th in the high jump by clearing 5′ 6″, while finishing 7th in the 110m high hurdles in a time of 17.05. The Cowboys 4×200 would place 6th in a time of 1:39.19 with the team of Lingenfelter-Lindaman-Matul-Campbell, while Charlie Campbell place 7th in the 100m dash in a season-best time of 11.62. Tate Jackson place 8th in the 3200m run in a time of 11:21.84, while Huxley Lingenfelter was 8th in the discus with a throw of 132′ 7″.

Webster City boys track returns to action on Thursday, when they compete in their Class 3A State Qualifying Meet at Nevada at 4:30 PM. Clarion-Goldfield-Dows boys track returns to action on Thursday, when they compete in their Class 2A State Qualifying Meet in Grundy Center at 4:30 PM.
