Roland-Story girls golf captures 2nd straight Heart of Iowa Title

The Roland-Story Norsemen and South Hamilton girls golf teams returned to action on Wednesday, as they made the trip to Marshall County to compete in the annual Heart of Iowa Conference Tournament at Lincoln Valley Golf Course in State Center. The Norsemen and Hawks were joined by Grand View Christian, Greene County, Nevada, PCM, Perry, Saydel and West Marshall.

Roland-Story captured their 2nd consecutive Heart of Iowa Conference title, shooting a 356 (+68), 15 strokes ahead of runner-up Nevada. Junior Brinley Carlson captured her first individual conference title, shooting an 81 (+9), as senior Brooke Thompson took home runner-up with an 84 (+12). Freshman Hadley Carlson placed 4th with an 89 (+17), as senior Isabel Hoskins tied for 17th with a 102 (+30) to round out scoring for the Norsemen.

South Hamilton would finish 7th with a team score of 498. Junior Arynn Luppes was the top placing Hawk, finishing 21st with a 104. Fellow junior Abby Richardson placed 36th with a 121, as Sydney Gelder placed 42nd and shot a 133, while Sophie Nibe placed 44th and shot a 140.

Roland-Story and South Hamilton girls golf return to action on Friday, when South Hamilton hosts their annual 9-hole tournament at Jewell Golf and Country Club at 2 PM.
