South Hamilton, Roland-Story boys golf compete in Heart of Iowa Conference tournament in State Center

The South Hamilton Hawks and Roland-Story Norsemen boys golf teams returned to action on Tuesday, as they made the trip into Marshall County to compete in the annual Heart of Iowa Conference Tournament at Lincoln Valley Golf Course in State Center. The Hawks and Norsemen were joined by Grand View Christian, Greene County, Nevada, PCM, Perry, Saydel and West Marshall.

South Hamilton would place 3rd in the tournament with a team score of 338 (+50), as they saw two athletes finish in the top 10. Junior Luke Martensen placed 5th and shot a 79 (+7), while fellow junior Michael Carlson placed 6th and shot an 80 (+8). Senior Landon Sogard tied for 22nd and shot an 89 (+17), as junior Sam Koehnk tied for 26th and shot a 90 (+18).

Roland-Story would place 4th in the tournament with a 341 (+53), as sophomore Ryan Fisher was the Norsemen’s top scorer, tying for 11th and shooting an 83 (+11). Senior Jack Birkland would tie for 16th and shoot an 85 (+13), sophomore Jake Knoll shot an 86 (+14) and tied for 18th, and senior Braylen Loots placed 20th and shot an 87 (+15).

PCM would win the conference title by shooting a 316 (+28), South Hamilton and Roland-Story boys golf returns to action on Thursday, when the Hawks host a 6-team meet at Jewell Golf and Country Club at 4 PM.
