Roland-Story and South Hamilton track compete at North Polk Co-Ed

The Roland-Story Norsemen and South Hamilton Hawks boys and girls track teams returned to action on Monday night, as they made the drive into Polk County to compete in the Comet Co-Ed Invitational at North Polk High School in Alleman. The Norsemen and Hawks were joined by the host Comets, as well as Bondurant-Farrar, Greene County, Johnston, Nevada and PCM.

Roland-Story’s girls placed 2nd with 107 points and came away with numerous winners, as Adalyn Sporleder started the day by winning the long jump with a mark of 17′ 4″. Kara Patterson soon followed by winning the 3000m run in a time of 12:38.71, while the shuttle hurdle team won in a time of 1:07.56 with the team of Jondle-Lucas-Rechkemmer-Helgeson. The Norsemen would win the distance medley in a time of 4:35.95 with the team of Reitano-Lucas-Johnson-Kar. Lande, soon followed by a win in the 4×200 in a time of 1:46.44 with the team of Sporleder-K. Petersen-Jondle-Kam Lande. Roland-Story’s final win of the night came in the 4×100 in a time of 50.19 with the team of Sporleder-K. Petersen-Jondle-Kam Lande.

South Hamilton’s girls placed 5th with 62 points on the night, as their top placer was Tessa Skartvedt, who finished 2nd in the shot put with a throw of 34′ 4″. The Hawks 4×200 placed 3rd in a time of 1:52.87 with the team of Flaugh-Van De Pol-Scheller-Doolittle, while the 4×400 also placed 3rd with the team of Herrick-Doolittle-Beaune-Scheller. The Hawks went 4-5 in the 800m run as Bianca Seaton was 4th in 2:39.28, while Olivia Beaune was 5th in 2:40.02, as Kayley Zanker was 4th in the 3000m run in a time of 14:56.99. Caitlin Bare was 4th in the 1500m run in a time of 5:55.13, Tessa Skartvedt was 4th in the discus with a throw of 94′ 10″, while Isabel Swenson was 4th in the high jump by clearing 5′ 0″.

Roland-Story’s boys placed 3rd with 94.5 points, as they claimed a pair of winners in distance events as Corbin Lucchesi won the 3200m run in a time of 10:34.56, while Evan Voga won the 1600m run in a time of 4:46.76. The Norsemen placed 2nd in the 4×800 in a time of 8:57.67 with the team of Willis-Dahlsten-Johnson-Hall, while placing 2nd in the shuttle hurdle in a time of 1:06 with the team of Crank-Barber-Jonas-Long. Fiston Carlson would place 2nd in the 100m dash in a season-best time of 11.61, while the 4×200 placed 3rd in a time of 1:37.36 with the team of Spainhower-Kilstofte-Miksell-Thoreson. The 4×400 also placed 3rd in a time of 3:46.34 with the team of Johnson-Dahlsten-Willis-Hall.

South Hamilton’s boys would place 4th with 85 points and would come away with a handful of winners, as the Hawks won the sprint medley in a time of 1:34.75 with the team of Severseike-Young-Twedt-Hodnefield. Kolby Hodnefield then won the 400m dash in a time of 50.40, before winning the 200m dash in a time of 22.26. South Hamilton’s final win came in the 4×400, winning in a time of 3:35.65 with the team of Gelder-Twedt-Young-Severseike. The Hawks placed 2nd in the distance medley in a time of 3:49.36 with the team of Gelder-Gibbs-Twedt-Severseike, while also finishing 2nd in the 4×200 in a time of 1:31.78 with the team of Severseike-Young-Twedt-Hodnefield. Jesus Garcia placed 2nd in the 3200m run in a time of 10:39.90.

Roland-Story and South Hamilton track teams return to action on Thursday, when they compete in the Heart of Iowa Conference meet at West Marshall High School in State Center, beginning at 4:30 PM.
