
The South Hamilton Hawks girls track team returned to action on Thursday, as they made the trip to Marshall County to compete in the West Marshall Co-Ed Meet at West Marshall High School in State Center. The Hawks were joined by the host Trojans, as well as Baxter, Colfax-Mingo, Colo-NESCO, East Marshall, Lynnville-Sully and Meskwaki.
South Hamilton would place 4th with 113 points, and come away with numerous event winners. The Hawks won the sprint medley in a time of 2:00.10 with the team of Flaugh-Doolittle-Van De Pol-Herrick, as the Hawks followed by winning the 4×200 in a time of 1:55.34 with the team of Flaugh-Van De Pol-Scheller-Doolittle. South Hamilton ended the night by winning the 4×400 in a time of 4:26.12 with the team of Beaune-Herrick-Chamness-Doolittle. Tessa Skartvedt placed 2nd in the shot put with a throw of 33′ 4″, while also placing 2nd in the discus with a throw of 87′. Claire Hewitt placed 2nd in the long jump with a mark of 14′ 9.75″, as the distance medley placed 2nd in a time of 4:47.31 with the team of Van De Pol-Scheller-Doolittle-Beaune.
South Hamilton girls track returns to action on Monday, when they travel to Alleman to compete in the North Polk Co-Ed at 4:30 PM.
