
The Roland-Story Norsemen, South Hamilton Hawks and Clarion-Goldfield-Dows Cowboys track teams returned to action on Thursday, as Roland-Story hosted the Norsemen Relays at Dallas Kray Track in Story City. Joining the Norsemen, Hawks and Cowboys were Ankeny, Aplington-Parkersburg, Ballard, Clear Lake, Denver, Nevada, North Polk, Ogden and Woodward Academy.
Roland-Story would place 4th in the meet with 86 points, collecting a pair of wins. Corbin Lucchesi would win the 3200m run in a time of 10:16.49, before the 4×200 won in a time of 1:32.61 with the team of Carlson-Mazyck-Fosse-Crabbs. Evan Voga placed 2nd in the 800m run in a time of 2:04.70, while the shuttle hurdle placed 2nd in a time of 1:02.74 with the team of Strum-Long-Barber-Crank. The Norsemen 4×100 placed 3rd in a time of 45.15 with the team of Carlson-Fosse-Spainhower-Mazyck, while Cody Long was 3rd in the long jump with a mark of 20′ 6″.
South Hamilton would place 7th with 53 points, while winning w events on Thursday. The first was the sprint medley, which the Hawks won in a season-best time of 1:33.86 with the team of Young-Twedt-Severseike-Hodnefield, as Kolby Hodnefield followed by winning the 400m dash in a time of 49.54. Hodnefield took 2nd in the 200m dash in a time of 21.98, while the distance medley placed 2nd in a time of 3:43.61 with the team of Young-Gelder-Twedt-Severseike. Tanner Twedt would place 2nd in the 200m dash in a time of 22.99, while Braden Young placed 4th in the long jump with a mark of 20′ 5.5″.
Clarion-Goldfield-Dows would place 13th with 11 points, as their top placer was sophomore Huxley Lingenfelter, who placed 3rd in the discus with a throw of 124′ 4″. Chaz Lane placed 6th in the high jump by clearing 5′ 4″, while Charlie Campbell placed 8th in the 100m dash in a time of 11.71. The Cowboys 4×800 placed 8th in a time of 9:45.12 with the team of Jackson-Torsell-Woodley-Greenfield.
Roland-Story and South Hamilton boys track return to action on Monday, when they travel to the North Polk Co-Ed at 4:30 PM. Clarion-Goldfield-Dows boys track returns to action on Thursday, when they compete in the North Central Conference meet in Clear Lake at 4:30 PM.
