4 Area Schools compete in George Abell Hawkette Relays in Jewell

The South Hamilton Hawks, Webster City Lynx, Roland-Story Norsemen and Clarion-Goldfield-Dows Cowgirls track teams all returned to action on Tuesday, as South Hamilton hosted their annual George Abell Hawkette Relays at Bill Taylor Field in Jewell. The 4 squads were also joined by Collins-Maxwell, Northwood-Kensett and Ogden.

Roland-Story would win the meet with 171 points with numerous winners. Adalyn Sporleder started the day with a win in long jump with a mark of 17′ 4″, before Kara Patterson won the 3000m run in a time of 12:29.88. The Norsemen then won the 4×800 in a time of 10:47.26 with the team of M. Petersen-Ziegler-Larson-Truesdell, as the shuttle hurdle won in a season-best time of 1:07.59 with the team of Jondle-Lucas-H. Scarrow-Helgeson. Kam Lande would then win the 100m dash in a time of 12.54 seconds, as the distance medley would win in a time of 4:40.56 with the team of Reitano-Willis-Johnson-Kar. Lande. Kam Lande followed by winning the 400m dash in a time of 59.73 for the final win of the evening for the Norsemen.

South Hamilton would place 2nd with 100 points in the meet, picking up a pair of wins. The Hawks won the 4×200 in a time of 1:54.95 with the team of Flaugh-Van De Pol-Scheller-Doolittle, before winning the 4×100 in a time of 53.85 with the team of Flaugh-Van De Pol-Lammers-Doolittle. Bianca Seaton placed 2nd in the 800m run in a time of 2:35.11, while Olivia Beaune placed 3rd in a time of 2:39.42. Tessa Skartvedt placed 3rd in the shot put with a throw of 34′ 7.5″, as the sprint medley placed 3rd in a time of 2:00.07 with the quartet of Flaugh-Lammers-Van De Pol-Doolittle. The Hawks would finish 3rd in the 4×400 in a time of 4:33.38 with the team of Herrick-Chamness-Beaune-Doolittle.

Webster City would place 3rd with 93 points, as the Lynx also picked up a pair of winners. Avery Poppen would win the discus with a throw of 106′ 8″, while older sister Adysen won the shot put with a throw of 35′ 7.25″. Amanda Lahr would place 2nd in the shot put with a throw of 34′ 10.75″, as the sprint medley placed 2nd in 1:55.67 with the team of Hartnett-Weinschenk-Savitski-Grossoheme. Izzy Grossoheme would place 2nd in the 400m dash in a time of 1:01.28, as Cloe Savitski placed 2nd in the 200m dash in a time of 27.11, and 3rd in the 100m dash in a season-best time of 12.98.

Clarion-Goldfield-Dows would place 6th with 46 points, as senior MaKayla Beisel put together another productive day. Beisel won the high jump by clearing 5′ 0″, before winning the 400m hurdles in a season-best time of 1:07.56. Beisel also set a new season-best in the 100m hurdles in a time of 15.82.

Webster City girls track returns to action on Thursday, when they run at the Don Howard Invitational at Goeppinger Field in Boone at 4:30 PM. South Hamilton girls track returns to action on Thursday, when they run at the West Marshall Co-Ed at 4:30 PM. Roland-Story returns to action next Monday at the North Polk Co-Ed at 4:30 PM, while CGD returns to action next Thursday at the NCC Girls Meet in Iowa Falls at 5 PM.
