Webster City, Eagle Grove boys track competes in Lynx Relays

The Webster City Lynx and Eagle Grove Eagles boys track teams returned to action on Tuesday, as Webster City hosted their annual Lynx Relays at Bob Buckley Track at Webster City High School. The Lynx and Eagles were joined by Bishop Garrigan, Humboldt, Iowa Falls-Alden, Mason City, Pocahontas Area, St. Edmond and Waverly-Shell Rock.

Webster City would finish 5th with 104 points on Tuesday and came away with a handful of winners. The first winner was senior Jayden Weinzetl, taking the 100m dash in a time of 11.10, before winning the 200m dash in a season-best time of 22.48. Justin Callahan then won the 400m hurdles in a season-best time of 56.53 seconds. Callahan would also place 3rd in the 400m dash in a season-best time of 51.32 seconds. Webster City placed 3rd in the sprint medley in a time of 1:37.30 with the team of Hansen-Hrnicek-Weinzetl-Callahan, as Jack Barner followed by placing 3rd in the 3200m run in a time of 11:11.16. Beau Nohrenberg would place 3rd in the shot put with a throw of 43′ 11″. while Cole Nohrenberg was 3rd in the discus with a throw of 138′ 10″.

Eagle Grove was 7th with 45 points, as the Eagles top placer was senior Josh Miller, who finished 3rd in the high jump by clearing 6′ even. Miller also placed 4th in the long jump with a jump of 18′ 11.25″, while Syrus Willard placed 4th in the high jump by clearing 5′ 10″. The Eagles 4×200 would place 4th in a season-best time of 1:38.58 with the quartet of Thacker-Miller-Heaton-Spencer. Leelan Spencer would place 5th in the 100m dash in a time of 11.62.

Webster City boys track returns to action on Friday, when they run at the Pocahontas Area Boys Meet at 4:30 PM. Eagle Grove returns to action on Thursday, when they run at the Hackbarth Relays in Algona at 4:30 PM.
