The Webster City Lynx baseball team returned to action on Wednesday night, as they hosted the Clear Lake Lions in North Central Conference action at Webster City High School. Webster City entered with a record of 6-5, while Clear Lake entered at 3-4.
Clear Lake jumped out to an early 1-0 lead with a run in the 2nd inning, a lead that then jumped to a 4-0 lead after the Lions put up 3 runs in the top of the 4th. Webster City would respond with 5 runs in the bottom of the 4th to take a 5-4 lead. Clear Lake would then answer in the 6th, plating 4 runs in the frame to take an 8-7 lead. Webster City then mounted a rally in the 7th, as the Lynx drove in 2 runs in the frame, but couldn’t drive in the 3rd run needed to tie the game as Clear Lake held on for an 8-7 victory.
Matt Tesdahl would go 1-for-3 on the night with a double and 3 RBI, while Briar Klaver went 1-for-2 with an RBI and was hit by a pitch. Relief pitcher Braylon Dyvig was charged with the loss, allowing 4 runs (2 earned) on 2 hits and striking out 2 batters, Keegan Hisler started 4 innings, allowing 4 runs on 6 hits and striking out 5.
Webster City baseball returns on Thursday night when they host Pocahontas Area at Webster City High School at 7:30 PM on 92.9/1570 KZWC.
