Webster City girls tennis compete in Class 1A Regional Tournament in Waterloo

The Webster City Lynx girls tennis team returned to action on Monday morning, as they made the trip east on Highway 20 to Waterloo to compete in their Class 1A Region 5 Singles and Doubles Tournament at Byrnes Park Tennis Center. The Lynx were joined by the hosts in Columbus Catholic, as well as Boone, Dike-New Hartford, Grundy Center, Iowa Falls-Alden, South Hardin, St. Edmond and Union Community.

Hailey Brim and Morgan Hackbarth would advance to the quarterfinals with a win in the first round, before dropping a heartbreaker in the quarterfinals via super-tiebreaker. The other notable duo for Webster City saw Allie Severe and Alivia Burns advance to the quarterfinals by sets of 6-2, 6-7 and 1-0, before bowing out in the semifinals.

Webster City girls tennis returns to action on Friday, when they travel to Boone for their dual tournament, taking on Toreadors at McHose Park.
