Webster City boys golf downs Greene County in season-opener

The Webster City Lynx boys golf team opened up their 2024 season on Tuesday afternoon, as they welcomed in the Greene County Rams to the Links Public Golf Course in Webster City.

With a veteran group returning, Eric Dawson’s squad started their 2024 campaign on the right noted by shooting a team score of 159 (+15). Braden Doering came away with the top score of 39 (+3) for the Lynx, while Dawson Bertran, Braylon Plain and Cael Nixon all shot 40’s (+4) to round out the Lynx scoring. Trevyn Lyons would shoot a 42 (+6) and Briar Klaver would shoot a 50 (+14).

Greene County would shoot a 187 as team on Tuesday. Their top golfer in Jack Hansen, who shot a 45 (+9). Nathan Behne would shoot a 46 (+10), as Nathan Towers and Broc Stream each shot 48’s (+12) to round out varsity scoring for the Rams.

Webster City boys golf returns to action on Thursday, when they compete at the Woodward-Granger Tournament at Woodward Golf and Country Club.
