Webster City wrestling goes 2-1 in Grinnell Duals on Saturday

The Webster City Lynx wrestling team made the trip east into Poweshiek County on Saturday morning, to compete at the annual Grinnell Tiger Duals at Grinnell High School. The Lynx were joined by the host Tigers, as well as Bondurant-Farrar and Mount Pleasant.

Webster City started their day with a 51-21 win over Mount Pleasant, a dual that saw falls from Brayden Burtnett (120), Carson Doolittle (132), Gavin Wynkoop (138), Tristan Mason (157), Isaac Firsching (165) and Luke Estlund (175), while Adison Scott (144) won a 6-0 decision. Landon Griffin (285) and Linden Phetxoumphone (113) won forfeit decisions.

The Lynx followed up with a 48-21 win over the hosts in Grinnell, as the dual saw falls from Eli Estlund (215), Landon Griffin (285), Linden Phetxoumphone (113), Carson Doolittle (126), Adison Scott (138) and Carson Bertran (190). Webster City got picked up wins from Tristan Mason (157) in a 17-12 decision, while Luke Estlund (175) won a 7-4 decision. Angel Ramirez was the only Lynx that won via forfeit at 106.

Finally, Webster City wrapped up with a talented Bondurant-Farrar squad, but fell by a score of 43-25. Webster City got just one win by fall from Luke Estlund at 175, while Carson Doolittle won at 126 via a 16-4 major decision. Landon Griffin (285) won an 8-2 decision, Linden Phetxoumphone (120) won a 3-2 decision, Tristan Mason (157) won a 4-2 decision, while Angel Ramirez won via forfeit at 113.

Webster City wrestling returns to action on Thursday, when they travel to Clear Lake to face the Lions in a North Central Conference dual.
