Eagle Grove girls wrestling competes in Michelle Jensen Memorial Tournament in Humboldt

The Eagle Grove Eagles girls wrestling team returned to action on Monday night, as they made the short trip west on Highway 3 to compete in the Michelle Jensen Memorial Tournament at Humboldt High School. The Eagles were joined by the host Wildcats, as well as East Sac County, Emmetsburg, Iowa Falls-Alden, Manson-Northwest Webster, Pocahontas Area, South Central Calhoun and West Bend-Mallard.

Eagle Grove would land a couple of champions from Monday night, as Catherine Orozco won her championship match over South Central Calhoun’s Kourtney King via fall. Jaymie Anderson remained undefeated with her title at 125 lbs, moving her record to 20-0 with 3 round-robin wins with pins over South Central Calhoun’s Michelle Burley, Humboldt’s Gracie Lyon and Iowa Falls-Alden’s Presley Mulford.

Eagle Grove would get a 3rd place finish from Nicole Menke at 130 lbs, winning 2 of her 3 round-robin matches. The Eagles got 2 4th place finishers in Janlis Nunez-Delgado at 115 and Maria Calles Castro at 155 lbs, while Genessis Corado placed 5th at 105 lbs. Keylyee Collings rounded out the Eagle Grove lineup by placing 6th at 135 lbs.

Eagle Grove girls wrestling returns to action on Friday, when they compete in the Fort Dodge Girls Tournament at Fort Dodge High School.
