South Hamilton, Roland-Story and Eagle Grove compete in Jim Klein Invitational in Jewell

The South Hamilton Hawks hosted their home cross country meet on Thursday night, for the annual Jim Klein Invitational at Jewell Golf and Country Club. The Hawks were joined by fellow area teams Roland-Story and Eagle Grove, as well as ACGC, BCLUW, Collins-Maxwell, Colo-NESCO, East Marshall, Madrid, Panorama and West Marshall.

Roland-Story’s girls would place 2nd in the meet with 66 points, 14 behind meet champions in (1A) #1 Madrid. Claire Truesdell was the Norsemen’s top runner, placing 9th in 21:03.85. Lauryn Kilstofte would place 12th in 21:24.99, Elizabeth Ihle was 15th in 21:39.58, Makenna Carlson was 17th in 21:56.23 and Brooke Thompson wounded out the scoring at 18th in 21:58.61.

Roland-Story’s boys would place 4th with 111 points, as Evan Voga was the Norsemen’s top runner for the first time in 2023, placing 10th in 18:07.93. Corbin Lucchesi was right behind him in 11th in 18:10.52, Henry Dahlsten was 31st in 19:36.71, Lucas Weubker was 32nd in 19:37.04, while Luccas Hart rounded out the scoring in 36th in 19:47.44.

South Hamilton’s girls would place 8th with 175 points, Olivia Beaune was the top Hawk runner, placing 27th in 23:13.60, while Cici Herrick was 28th in 23:17.52. McKenna Miller was 38th in 25:10.04, Isabel Swenson was 49th in 26:10.98, while Kayley Zanker placed 56th in 26:39.81 to round out the scoring.

South Hamilton’s boys would place 6th with 136 points, Pete Coburn was the top placer at 18th in 18:46.88, while Bobby Tapper finished closely behind in 21st in 18:56.64. Hayden Hill was 26th in 19:15.02, Laken Zanker was 35th in 19:43.80, while Jagger Ferrie rounded out the scoring in 49th in 20:49.42.

Eagle Grove’s girls cross country did compete, as Elizabeth Lopez placed 57th in 26:43.18, while Alizabeth Page placed 62nd in 27:12.12.

South Hamilton and Roland-Story return to action on Monday, as they compete in the Heart of Iowa Conference Meet at Greene County Middle School in Jefferson. Eagle Grove cross country returns to action on Thursday, when they compete in the Top of Iowa Conference Meet at North Iowa Area Community College in Mason City.
