South Hamilton Volleyball Pulls Comeback to Stun Madrid, 3-2

The South Hamilton Hawks volleyball team returned to action on Thursday night, when they made the drive south on Highway 17 to take on the Madrid Tigers in non-conference action at Madrid High School. The Hawks entered with a record of 3-8, while Madrid entered at 1-1.

Things started off sluggishly for the Hawks, as mistakes snowballed in the first two sets, as South Hamilton fell behind 2-0 with sets of 15-25 and 20-25. The tides then began to turn in the 3rd set, when the Hawks got a spark from senior Grace Neuberger, as they took set 3 by a score of 25-20. Things continued to trend for South Hamilton when they managed to hold off a late Madrid rally in set 4 to win 25-22 and send it into a 5th set. The Hawks managed to take control late in the frame, and take home a 15-11 win and complete the comeback for a 3-2 win.

Grace Neuberger was the Jewell Market Player of the Game, unofficially tallying 6 kills and 3 aces on the night for the Hawks. South Hamilton returns to action on Saturday, as they’re scheduled to compete at the South Central Calhoun Tournament in Lake City.
