Knoxville motorcyclist injured in Thursday aftnoon accident near Williams on Interstate 35.

A motorcyle accident at the 145 southbound mile marker of Interstate 35 near Williams was investigated by the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Department at 2:42 Thursday afternoon with details of the accident released this morning. Reportedly a southbound 2009 model Honda XL motorcycle operated by 24-year-old Allen L. Waite of Knoxville struck a large piece of wood in the middle of the traffic lane. The motorcycle operated by Waite landed on its side and then struck a cable barrier support area with an estimated $1000 in damage reported to it. Traffic on the interstate was described as medium to heavy at the time. Waite was transported to Van Diest Medical Center by the Williams EMS Department for treatment of his injuries. Investigating Hamilton County Deputy Wyatt Opperman reported the damage to motorcycle operated by Waite was estimated at $5000.
