Webster City, CGD boys compete in the North Central Conference Track Meet

The Webster City Lynx and Clarion-Goldfield-Dows Cowboys track teams returned to action on Thursday night, traveling to Iowa Falls to compete in the North Central Conference boys track meet at Iowa Falls-Alden High School. The two were joined by NCC schools Algona, St. Edmond, Iowa Falls-Alden, Clear Lake, Humboldt and Hampton-Dumont-CAL.

The night began with the field events, which saw another sweep in the throws for Webster City senior JJ Moore, who won the shot put with a throw of 57′ 5″ and the discus with a throw of 158′. Jaxon Cherry placed 2nd in the discus for the Lynx, with a throw of 140′, and CGD’s Mason Allen placed 4th with a toss of 138′ 7″. In high jump, CGD’s Nevan Foss placed 3rd in the high jump, clearing 5′ 8″, Webster City’s Keegan Hisler placed 5th, clearing 5′ 6″. In long jump, CGD’s Brandon Zigrang placed 7th with a mark of 16′ 11.75, while Webster City’s Luke Estlund placed 8th with a mark of 16′ 8.25″.

In the individual events, Webster City saw a plethora of silver finishes, with Jaxon Cherry placing 2nd in the 100 meter dash in a time of 11.55, with CJ Hisler placing 3rd in 11.69. Hisler would also place 2nd in the 200 meter dash in a mark of 23.26, CGD’s Jacob Ingebritson placed 5th in 24.40. Webster City also got a 2nd place finish from Jose Ramirez in the 1600 meter run, finishing in a time of 4:51.04. CGD would also get a placer in the 110 high hurdles, as Connor State placed 6th in a time of 16.89.

In the relays, Webster City picked up runner-up finishes in the 4×100 and the 4×200, finishing in times of 44.12 and 1:32.86, respectively behind conference champs Hampton-Dumont-CAL. CGD would finish 5th in the 4×100 in 45.68 and 7th in the 4×200 in 1:35.38. The Lynx and Cowboys would finish the 4×400 in 6th and 7th, with the Lynx finishing in 3:44.48 and the Cowboys finishing in 3:44.78. Webster City would place 5th in the 4×800, while CGD would place 8th. In the shuttle hurdle, CGD finished as runners-up to Humboldt in a time of 1:05.15, as Webster City placed 6th. The Cowboys and Lynx would place 6th and 7th in the distance medley, while the two swapped spots for places in the sprint medley.

Webster City would place 4th in the meet with 98 points, while Clarion-Goldfield-Dows would place 8th with 44 points. Clear Lake was the team champion with 150 points.
