Eagle Grove track competes at Top of Iowa West Conference Meet

The Eagle Grove Eagles track teams made the trip north on Thursday night, to compete at the Top of Iowa West Conference Meet at Waldorf University in Forest City. The Eagles were joined by the host Indians, Belmond-Klemme, North Union, Lake Mills, Bishop Garrigan, North Iowa, West Hancock, and Garner-Hayfield-Ventura.

The night began with field events, as Eagle Grove saw their highest placer come from Peyton Larsen in the boys shot put, who placed 2nd with a throw of 43′ 3.75″, as well as Addyson Jeske, who placed 2nd in the long jump with a mark of 16′ 1″. Cayden Schultz placed 4th in the boys high jump, clearing 6′ 0″, while Justine Olson placed 4th in the girls shot put with a throw of 33′ 2.75″. The Eagles also got a 5th-6th finish in the boys discus from Gabriel Binkerd and Jake Jeske, who threw 113′ 10″ and 112′ 10″ respectively. Orlando Hernandez placed 6th in the long jump with a mark of 18′ 9.75″

In the individual events, Ayden Feske was the lone individual champion for the Eagles, winning the 100 meter dash in a time of 13.10. Blake Morgan would pick up a 3rd place finish in the 200 meter dash in a time of 22.93.

In the relays, Eagle Grove’s boys would finish 2nd in the 4×200 and the sprint medley, in times of 1:34.12 and 1:39.54, respectively. The Eagles placed 3rd in the 4×400 in a time of 3:37.50, while placing 5th in the shuttle hurdle relay in a mark of 1:12.24. The girls would pick up a 2nd place finish in the sprint medley, in a time of 2:01.89, a 5th place finish in the distance medley, in a mark of 5:15.42, and 6th place finish in the 4×200 in a time of 2:03.16.

Eagle Grove’s boys would place 6th in the meet, scoring 47 points, while Eagle Grove’s girls placed 8th scoring 33 points. Forest City swept the men’s and women’s team titles on Thursday.
