Eagle Grove wrestling competes at Top of Iowa tournament

The Eagle Grove wrestling team made the trip north on Saturday, to compete in the Top of Iowa Conference tournament in Saint Ansgar. The Eagles were joined by the host Saints and the other 14 members of the Top of Iowa Conference.

The Eagles placed 13th out of the 16 teams, with traditional power Osage taking home the conference championship by a comfortable margin, 254.5 points. Nashua-Plainfield were the runners-up with 229 points. Eagle Grove’s top finishers were Mack Morgan at 106 pounds and Isaac Olson at 220 pounds, both of whom placed 4th in the meet. Jack Mendoza placed 5th at 195 pounds, while Dustin Dawson placed 6th at 132 pounds. Connor Christopher and Trenton Sorenson each placed 8th on the night as well.

Eagle Grove will be off until Saturday, when they will compete in Class 1A, Sectional 5 at South Hamilton, with the host Hawks, Belmond-Klemme, Emmetsburg, North Union, St. Edmond and West Hancock.
