Webster City wrestling sweeps Carroll and Boone on Thursday

The Webster City Lynx wrestling team made the trip west on Thursday night, as they traveled to Carroll to compete in a triangular with the Carroll Tigers and the Boone Toreadors. The Tigers and Toreadors entered tied for 4th in the Raccoon River Conference standings at 4-3.

The Lynx kicked the night off against their non-conference rivals in the Toreadors, as Adison Scott, Carson Doolittle and Cam Phetxoumphone opened the dual up with three straight pins. A Tristan Mason, decision over Trent Overturf gave Webster City a 21-0 lead. The Toreadors would rebound, cutting to a close as 37-26, but a Jaxon Cherry major decision over Brevin Bennett at 220 pounds cinched up the 41-29 victory.

Webster City would then wait for the conclusion of Boone and Carroll, as the Tigers downed the Toreadors 42-23, to face off the hosts. The match started at 120 pounds, where Cam Phetxoumphone picked up the fall over Carroll’s Cael Nelson to kick off the dual. The Tigers would then reel off 4 wins in a row to take a 20-6 lead. The Lynx would answer at the heavier weights, as Jordan Vankham picked up a 15-7 major decision over Justin Riesberg at 152, as Brady Jessen, Dylan Burnette-Bingham and Skyler Scott all picked up forfeit wins. CJ Hisler and Jaxon Cherry picked up falls for the Lynx, and Carson Doolittle ended the dual with a pin of his own, as Webster City downed the Tigers 46-32.

Webster City returns to action on Saturday, when they compete at the Roland-Story duals in Story City.
