Webster City girls host Algona on Friday, boys face WSR on Saturday

The Webster City girls return to action on Friday night, when they host the Bulldogs of Algona in North Central Conference action. The Algona girls enter with a 6-10 record, and 5-4 in North Central Conference play.

Algona enters looking to get their conference record higher above .500 with a win against a Webster City team that has had a very successful January, after a rough December. Algona is led by junior A’Lailah Perry, ho is averaging 7.5 PPG and just over 7 RPG, both numbers lead the team. Freshman Lauren McLaughlin has become the main outside scoring threat for the Bulldogs, shooting over 37% from behind-the-arc.

On Saturday, the Webster City boys return to the hardwood as they host the Go-Hawks of Waverly-Shell Rock at Webster City High. The Go-Hawks enter with a 7-5 record, as members of the Northeast Iowa Conference.

Webster City looks to build off their close win over Hampton-Dumont-CAL against a Waverly-Shell Rock team, that has developed something of a rivalry with Webster City across their athletics teams. The Go-Hawks are led by senior Keaton Farmer, who leads the team in points and rebounds with 14.1 PPG and 5 RPG. Sophomore Cole Marsh has also been scoring at a high-clip, averaging 13.8 PPG.

Webster City’s girls tipoff against Algona at 7:45 on Friday night, Webster City’s boys tipoff against Waverly-Shell Rock at 4 PM on Saturday afternoon.
