Eagle Grove basketball swept in doubleheader by Lake Mills

The Eagle Grove basketball teams returned to action on Tuesday night, as they hosted the Bulldogs of Lake Mills in Top of Iowa Western Conference action. The Lake Mills girls entered with a 5-11 record, while the Lake Mills boys came in undefeated at 15-0, and ranked #6 in Class 1A.

The girls game kicked things off with Eagle Grove looking to end a 5-game losing skid. Lake Mills would get off to a fast start however, leading 16-8 after one, and building the lead to a 29-11 margin at halftime. Lake Mills wouldn’t take their foot off the gas as they took home a 51-26 win. Lake Mills moved to 6-11 with the win, while Eagle Grove moved to 2-13 with the loss.

The boys game followed with Eagle Grove facing the daunting task of taking on the undefeated Bulldogs, and Lake Mills got after it from the get out, as they led 25-4 after the first quarter. Lake Mills would nearly equal their point total in the 2nd quarter, holding a 49-12 lead at halftime. The Bulldogs would let off the gas a touch in the 2nd half, but still powered to a 79-21 win.

Eagle Grove returns to action next Tuesday, when they host North Union at Eagle Grove Elementary School.
