Fort Dodge Police investigating early Sunday morning shooting.

Early Sunday morning, November 7 at approximately 4:21 A.M., the Webster County Telecommunications Center received a call regarding shots fired in the area of the 10 block of North 7th Street in Fort Dodge. The caller indicated they had heard several shots fired and while speaking with dispatch, indicated that an individual had been shot. No suspect information was given.
Officers arrived on scene and located a male who had sustained gunshot wounds to his  midsection. Officers began immediate medical treatment before medics with the Fort Dodge Fire Department arrived on scene and transported the victim to Unity Point – Trinity Regional Medical Center. The victim, an 18‐year‐old male, was then Life Flighted to a Des Moines area
hospital for further treatment of his injuries.  Upon investigation, it was determined that the incident took place inside an apartment
area located at 21 ½ North 7th Street. The victim then fled the scene where he was located in a nearby parking lot. Officers on scene located witnesses and a firearm and are continuing to
follow up on leads. The Fort Dodge Police Department is continuing to look into this incident. Anyone who may have information, is strongly encouraged to contact law enforcement. With the
information we have gathered to this point, it is believed the incident was isolated to known individuals and not a random act. The Fort Dodge Police Department was assisted on scene by
the Webster County Sheriff’s Office and the Fort Dodge Fire Department.
