Webster City volleyball competes in Madrid Tournament this weekend

The Webster City volleyball team competed in the Madrid Tournament this past weekend at Madrid High School. Participants in the tournament included Madrid, Collins-Maxwell, Baxter, Class 1A #6 Ankeny Christian, Hampton-Dumont-CAL, Wayne, Corydon and Van Meter.

The Lynx finished the tournament with a 4-1 record, and a runner-up finish as they fell in the tournament championship match with the Eagles of Ankeny Christian. Webster City got things started in the morning with a 2-0 win over Baxter, by scores of 21-10 and 21-11. The Lynx then followed that up with a dominant, 2-0 win over Collins-Maxwell, by scores of 21-4 and 21-14.

Webster City then shifted attention to the Madrid Tigers, who they also took down 2-0, by scores of 21-9 and 21-7. The Lynx then moved to the semifinals, where they took down the Van Meter Bulldogs 2-0, with scores of 21-10 and 21-11, before the fell in the championship match, 2-1.

Sierra Rattenborg lead the Lynx in kills in the tournament with 28, while Livia Kasch had 25 overall. Joslin Gourley finished with 68 assists while Alayna Finucan had 40 digs.
