Area teams compete in the Algona Invitational

Webster City and Clarion-Goldfield-Dows had their cross country teams travel north on Monday to participate in the Algona Invitational at the River Road Golf Course in Algona. The girls meet included Class 3A #2 Spencer, Class 2A #15 Okoboji, 2A #18 Clear Lake and Class 1A #4 Fort Dodge, St. Edmond.

Webster City girls did not compete as a complete team and did not place. Junior Emma Peck was the top Lynx runner, finishing 27th in a time of 23:30, freshman Karina Murray was the second-highest place, finishing 73rd in a time of 26:25. Clarion-Goldfield-Dows girls also did not compete as a complete team. The top Cowgirls finisher was freshman Madison Ingebritson, who finished 81st in a time of 27:31.

The boys meet included ranked foes such as Class 2A #5 Okoboji, 2A #14 Clear Lake, Class 3A #18 Charles City, 2A #15 Spirit Lake and Class 1A #13 Fort Dodge, St. Edmond. The Webster City boys placed 12th out of 19 teams, with the top Lynx finisher in senior Jose Ramirez, who placed 16th in a time of 18:23. Fellow senior Cole Reiling finished 31st in a time of 18:56. Clarion-Goldfield-Dows finished 19th, with the top runner in Christopher Greenfield, who ran a time of 20:56.
